Here's our next Sport Blast from the Past: the 2010 Mooloolaba Women's ITU World Cup Triathlon. With Emma Snowsill and Emma Moffatt not competing due to injury, the door was open for other competitors to shine, especially on a typically warm, humid Queensland coastal day. Some pics:
Laura Bennett is 1st to emerge from the Coral Sea
Ainhoa Murua followed by Sarah Groff
Eventual 5th place getter Sarah Groff in the bike leg (2011 winner Nicky Samuels on right)
Kiyomi Niwata, Courtney Gilfillan, Kathrin Muller
Lisa Mensink, Nicky Samuels, Kate Roberts
Australian Ashleigh Gentle
Race winner Vendula Frintova (CZE) approaches the finish line
Alternate processing: "Matt's Cutting Edge" - Jubilant, triumphant Tomoko Sakimoto crosses the line in second place.
Felicity Sheedy-Ryan shows the pain of completing a 1.5 k swim, 40 k bike ride & than a 10 k run in high temperatures & humidity.
Tomoko Sakimoto needed some help to open her Champaign bottle but then created some nice Champaign art :).

PS: Here's a video (1min 39secs) of the first 10 finishers in the women's event, shot at the finish line. Thanks to the Spanish gentleman in front of me who shot this for me while I kept clicking on my still camera.
