Hi all
Main Link: My new second gallery of pics from the 2011 Breaka Burleigh Surf Pro, including 10 pics with “alternate processing”
When processing / editing photos I sometimes like to give some pics a ‘zany’ or alternative look. Nowadays there are plenty of ‘presets’ to use with programs like Adobe Lightroom. Here are some samples from the 2011 Breaka Burleigh Surf Pro:
"Kelco Polar Cream"
"Matt's Wedding Fantasy" (by Matt Kloskowski). Surfer: Bede Durbidge
"Stark Raging Black Curve". Surfer: Grand Finalist Jayke Sharpe
"Matt's 300 Look - Strong"
Click here for the second (new) gallery with 10 samples of "Alternate Processing".
Thanks for looking.

2011 Breaka Burleigh Surf Pro, Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast, 19 February 2011
Hi all
Main Link: My Smugmug Photo Gallery of my top pics from the 2011 Breaka Burleigh Surf Pro
EDIT: New second gallery, including "Alternate Processing" pics
Saturday (19 February) saw the final heats & quarter finals of the Breaka Burleigh Pro Surfing Competition at Burleigh Heads on Australia's Gold Coast. Although the surf was very small (on the grand final day as well), I enjoyed the day and the professional surfers were brilliant at making 'plenty' from very small waves. The winner for the second year in succession was Taj Burrow. Here are some pics (if you like, you can click on any photo to be taken to that pic within the gallery):
Taj Burrow
2010 and also 2011 winner Taj Burrow
Jayke Sharpe, with a backdrop of "Little Burleigh"
Grand Finalist Bede Durbidge
In second place in the Grand Final (and also holder of the highest single score in the Grand Final), Joel Parkinson

Afternoon Surfing at Sunrise Beach, south of Noosa Heads, Sunshine Coast, Queensland - Photos
Main Link: My Smugmug Photo Gallery - Afternoon Afternoon Surfing at Sunrise Beach, Sunshine Coast, Queensland - Photos
Hi all
Here are some surfing pics taken in the 2 days immediately after the 2010 Noosa Triathlon, taken at Sunrise Beach, just south of Noosa Heads. Ironically, on the first (overcast) day, I had headed out to photograph birds, but when I couldn't find any, I headed straight for the beach, where some nice waves were breaking at high tide :). Now for some pics:
I was using an older camera and was happy with its focus on this one:
"Crispy Water"
Welcome to "The Green Room"
24 Hours later - Day 2:
"Over!"

"Two Bridges in One Walk" - walking Brisbane's Kurilpa & "Go Between" bridges on a beautiful winter's day
Main Link: My Smugmug Photo Gallery on walking across Brisbane's Kurilpa Bridge and Go Between Bridge on a beautiful winter's day.
Hi all
Catching up on a very nice walk last July when I walked acorss Brisbane's two newest bridges: the Kurilpa Bridge and the "Go Between" Bridge. The strange thing is that I don't even like the Kurilpa Bridge: too many 'spikes and cables' for my taste, but I still found it 'compelling' to photograph. Onto some pics:
Kurilpa Bridge, with a City Cat Ferry below
Kurila Bridge - "Spikes & Cables"
"GOMA" - Gallery of Modern Art - as seen from the Kurilpa Bridge:
Kurilpa Bridge, with Brisbane's CBD in the background, as seen from 'the south side'
A few minutes' walk away - the "Go Between Bridge"
Go Between Bridge
Go Between Bridge, with another City Cat Ferry emerging

NBL Basketball Photos - Gold Coast Blaze v Adelaide 36ers, GCCEC, 13 February 2011
Main Link: My Smugmug Photo Gallery: Gold Coast Blaze v Adelaide 36ers NBL Basketball, 13-2-2011.
The Gold Coast Blaze basketball team is starting to really put things together. After a horror run with injuries, and 2 very recent aquisitions of great players, the Blaze are now looking very good. Some pics from the win over the Adelaide 36ers:
Darryl Hudson drives hard around Rhys Carter:
Ron Howard:
Rhys Carter defends Jason Cadee
Jason Cadee gets inside
One of my favourites - Chris Goulding with the facial expression as he is fouled by Ron Howard:
Darryl Hudson with the facial expression and the vertical leap:
'Looks like both Jason Cadee and Brad Hill have been to "Facial Expression School":
Darryl Hudson again looking 'dramatic':
Blaze Head coach Joey Wright unhappy that a possession turned into a 'loss-of-possession' because of a Ref's decision (and a possession arrow).....
Winners wear slight grins :)
